Christmas Team Arrives PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 22 November 2008

The Romania Christmas team left in great spirits at 6:15pm Friday after a few hours of packing bags and meeting as a team. I am writing this message from the airport in Vienna, Austria where we are waiting for our connecting flight to Budapest, Hungary. Then we will take a 7 hour van ride over to Cluj-Napoca, Romania where we will be based for the next 3 days. We should arrive tonight around 8pm local time which is 7 hours ahead of Toronto time. The team is looking forward to meeting up with our Romanian “family” tonight, and working and living with them for the next 7 days. I will post pictures and messages by Monday before we head out to Beclean and Ilisua on Tuesday. Thanks for your interest!

Romania Report - Thursday August 14, 2008 PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 21 August 2008

As i write this final blog for the august Team in Romania, They are on a plane from Budapest, Hungary to Toronto.

They boarded a bus in Romania at 6:30am this morning in order to catch a plane in Budapest this afternoon. They left in great spirits although waking up at 5am was not exactly what they love to do. I would say that this team had a wonderful experience because the work they did was very satisfying. I am sure that they surprised themselves in many ways!

They certainly brought many smiles to children’s faces and hearts, and they helped the Romania Project progress in our goals with children and our volunteers…. Here are a few more pictures for you to catch another glimpse of this mission trip…

Thank-you again friends.

Romania Report -Thursday August 7, 2008 PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 08 August 2008

The August Team to Romania arrived safely last Saturday night at 11:30pm. They spent Sunday preparing for Camp Discovery which began on Monday. We picked up 40 excited orphans from “Prichindel” in a rented coach bus and drove to the nearby mountains of “Somesul Rece” where we have rented a beautiful lodge facility. Since Monday the team has worked hard to keep up with the kids.

The programming that they have prepared has gone seamlessly. Crafts, games, bible stories, swimming, campfire and marshmallows, singing, great food and treats and much more….

But most important, each child has had significant “one to one” attention from our 35 staff, volunteers, Canadians and orphanage workers. We have one full day left and will be back in Cluj late Saturday afternoon.

Thank-you for your interest and support.

Romania Dental Clinic PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 08 August 2008

The first 4 days have gone very well! The team of Neil, Pat & Noriko Fukumoto, Daniela Robb, Gary Sharpe, Doug & Lori Schinkel, Joni Allardyce and Albert Damjanshitz (equipment technician) are working “3 chairs” and Neil’s dream to see a dental clinic in Beclean, Romania is realized! I am sure that at this time last year Neil (with his fight with cancer) didn’t picture this happening although I know he never lost hope even though he didn’t even know if he would be alive.

The children that they are seeing have major dental issues and the needs seem endless. I think that the team feels that although they are really helping orphans, they are just scratching the surface. However it is apparent that the director of the orphanage in Beclean is thrilled for this kindness!

Although the pictures don’t show it, the dental team are being helped by some of the older orphans to assist in the operation of the clinic. Overall, I know that the team is very thankful to God for the success thus far!

Stay tuned as I will try to have another report next week as we have a 3 day “ministry team retreat” and then the August Team arrives for 2 weeks and Camp Discovery!

Thank-you for your support!

Bob Fukumoto (for Neil and the dental team)
